One moment I felt like giving up was actually for the other assignment due this week which requires us to read a biography. I immediately thought, “I don’t want to read an entire book for this one assignment I’m not going to do this.” Then, I read the list of book options and realized there are many people on the list that I would enjoy learning about their lives and how they became so hugely successful. This really perked me up and got me excited for the assignment instead of dreading it.
I think I’ve developed a tenacious attitude this year because it is my senior year. This class has helped with it but I mainly think it is because I am getting closer to the real world and am getting very excited for it. I know in my career I won’t be able to slack off like I did sometimes in past years as a student, and I don’t think I will want to because I will be working in what I want to—Advertising. My internship over the last summer and the reality that this is my last year at UF is what really contributed to this new feeling of tenacity in me.
Some tips I would give to students for next semester is to remember why you are doing all of this. Taking this course, going to this school—its all for a huge payback in the end that will help you in the next step in your life journey, so why not enjoy it and do the best at it while you can? Developing the tenacious mindset really just takes you believing in you and what you can accomplish. Don’t stop at acing this class, ace all of your others, and ace everything you set your mind to. That’s my advice!

Hi Madi! I completely agree with how you felt about the reading assignment this week. With everything going on this time in a semester it was difficult to use so much time to read one of the autobiographies. However, once I started reading it became really enjoyable to read something other than a textbook. Also, I think you gave great advice to future students
ReplyDeleteHey Madison! I highly enjoyed your advice for new students. Seeking your goals is the most important attitude is the biggest favor people can do for themselves. This class also taught me that I cannot slack off any assignments so we get our so desired A for it. In real life it will be the same, but at least we will be doing what we like and earning some money!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck Madi as you are preparing to either go to grad school or start working on your degree. There is nothing else i feel the need to comment on this post except that I totally agree with the three tips you would advice anyone taking this class next semester. This was a very nice and interesting post.
ReplyDeleteI admire your hard working spirit, its very impressive that you got to go to this school with a full ride. I also like that this class is very structured because it helps me keep track of all of the assignments that are due during the week. I was also dreading the reading assignment but I realized that the book choices were very interesting. I liked the tips that you gave because they can really help people do well in this class.
ReplyDeleteI really like the message you gave in your reflection. Often times we forget why we are here and that is to put in the work now so that alter in life we can be better off. All the hard work we put in now can and will pay off if we follow through with it. Tenacity is definitely a great quality and I think you have it figured out. Your advice is really powerful and great job.
